Can this PC run minecraft?

So my friend got an old PC and he wants to know if he buys an r7 240 he will be able to play minecraft, here the specs:

CPU: Intel core 2 duo 2ghz
GPU:none
1gb ram
The rest doesnt really matter I think

thats the minimum system requirements for minecraft so all you need is a atleast 1gb more of ram and you should be able to play fine

He might be able to play at tiny render distance, but anything more will not give more than 30fps.

Agreed. Even another 1gb will double the performance of the game as vanilla MC typically can use about 1gb ram at 1080p.
