I would go with a 840 Evo SSD instead of the Kingston and a MSI 970

I'd advise you to get a Core i5 k series processor with a Z97 motherboard rather than an FX 8320. The processor is quite outdated now.

No problem. cst1992's advice is good too...the I5 with that combination would be very good.

If you ask me, the brand for the 970 doesn't really matter; MSI make great overclocking cards whereas evga have top notch customer service. evga has cooling issues with their new coolers and MSI has coil whine.
Both have their fair share of benefits and issues.

Your getting more bang for your money which is why I recommend the MSI one. People on here have been getting really good overclocks with them.

I agree on this one.

Also, it's not "people on here", but "people here". I see a lot of folks do that mistake.

Reread what I said. In the words of Christopher Hitchens " I didnt ask for your advice and I don't think that I'd profit from it"

You could profit from it - but if you don't want it, fine by me anyway.
I'm sorry for unneeded advice, especially in a thread that isn't mine. Let's end this grammar thing here. Back on topic.

How much difference would it actually make to change to an i5? It's a pretty big price tag. (I'm helping Florian S with the build). Also, is there a specific i5 or motherboard you'd recommend?

It's going to be more for the CPU and around the same price for the motherboard. Do you want to overclock? If not I would go with a I5 4460 and a H97 motherboard.

The i5 4690k is the ultimate gaming CPU, beyond which i7's start, and they mostly offer lesser price/performance than the i5's do.
Asus and Gigabyte are my brands of choice for motherboards - a Gigabyte Z87x or Z97x would be good, as it allows for SLI'ing graphics cards. Although for the not-so-hardcore gamer, one 970 or 980 is enough for the time.
