I'm assuming we're talking about a 1080p display here?

If so, the integrated graphics in the AMD A8 aren't going to give very good results. You can try turning down (or off) heavy-hitting settings, like Anti-Alliasing (AA), shadows, etc...

What you need is a dedicated video card. If your case will fit one, I'd go with a GTX 750Ti. It's not the fastest card on the market, but anything better will need a new power supply, and other upgrades.

You did state your specs which is good, however you aren't giving us enough info on how bad the fps is.

Does the fps problem happen on certain games?

I'd say if the fps you're getting now are not good enough, then yes you need a new GPU. For $175ish, I'd say a Radeon R9 270 is going to be pretty good. make sure you have an open PCI-E x16 slot and a power supply with sufficient power to run that card and with the PCI-E connectors. otherwise you'll need to get a lower card and invest in a more powerful PSU with the right connectors.

what FPS are you looking to get? 30-40 is most definitely playable. does it dip into the teens FPS during scenes with lots of effects or something?

I think (don't quote me) that the 8570D GPU in the APU is actually equivalent to a lower midrange video card. before you splurge on a card, check out benchmarks to make sure you're going to gain a significant amount of FPS with the upgrade.

I remember reading the 8670D is equivalent to a GTX750. So if you were going to buy something, it should be much better than a GTX750 or else it might not be worth it, ya know what I mean?

I'd just hate for you spend $175 and gain just 10FPS or something. I doubt that would be the case, but do a little research on those benchies to be sure.

You're not going to get Ultra settings, 60 FPS @ 1080p in all games with a $175 budget, but that said.

You can grab the GTX 750Ti for a 60 FPS with medium settings for $150: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Or you can grab a MSI AMD R9 270X for $170, but you'd probably have to upgrade your PSU along with it. An $45 Antec VP-450 may be a good place to start.

Agreed. You may want to just save up a little longer, and let the GPU prices fall. By late October, they may have released a GTX 960 that can run with your existing PSU.

I wouldn't waste money on RAM for now. You won't see much of a leap there when it comes to FPS. Maybe in a year or so.

But, graphics cards yes, and don't forget that the card has to A) Fit in your case, B) Get enough power from your Power Supply (which is small).

Well, be sure your PC Case can fit any "Standard ATX" Power Supply first. It also has to fit the graphics card you choose. Some pre-built cases don't have much room. Measure the distance in your case, and check the specs on the card. If they won't fit, you're almost building a new PC.

If it can neither of those are an issue, then pick up any GTX 970 that will fit, and a XFX 650W PSU. That should keep you maxed out for a few years.
