Does your computer get hot as you may have a bad cooler. If so then upgrade your PCs cooler. It could also be your Power supply unit, if your PC doesn't overheat then try upgrading your power supply unit as this is usually the cause.

If its a laptop then it could be damaged or not have good enough inbuilt coolers or PSU.

I have a laptop, and these problems have been around for a while, then they went away for a while and then they came back. I don't want to go around inside it because that would void it's warranty and that would really suck.

Assuming it's a laptop, I would suggest checking if there is any dust in the computer itself. Check a manual or online on how to open your laptop and perform needed tasks. If the air cannot get out of the computer properly, it WILL cause problems. Had quite a few laptops myself.

It might also be about the air ventilation in general. If the computer is clear of dust and still doesn't work properly when doing graphically intensive stuff, consider on getting a laptop cooler.

It could also simply be a faulty GPU. If I were you, I would first check for dust and then go on to other tasks. If it's not the dust, maybe try a few other games to see if they work properly. If you're certain you don't have anything wrong with the ventilation and there's no dust, it could be so that your gpu is failing.

I dont want to open my computer because that would void the warranty. Also I've got a special computer pad underneath my computer to keep it cool (it's funny how I got it because my mum was going to throw it away because my brother didn't need it anymore so I started to use it, I wish I could have as much success as he does with his computers :*( his old computer stayed with him for 4 years, my old Asus only survived a year before it got mechanical issues and had to be replaced).

Well if you want to be sure not to void the warranty, I suggest you try playing a few other games, maybe run a benchmark test and see if it blackscreens again. If it does, you could have a faulty gpu and you have to get it to maintenance.

And yeah I know what you mean when you talk about bad luck with electronics. My laptop of 2 years recently broke due to the gpu failing (MacBook Pro so it was kind of glued to the mobo), and a laptop I had before that just plain stopped being fast, aaaand finally the laptop before this one got hot chocolate poured on it. So believe me, I know what you mean.

Jeez, we now find your bro used it before you, and God knows how hard he was on it or how hot it got or how much dust he let get sucked into it.

How old is this thing? Most only have a yr warranty. You should at least monitor your temps with one of many of the free tools. Afterburner being one.

In fact with Afterburner you can set it to show GPU temp while playing.

However sometimes with LTs the power inverter (located behind the bottom of the screen) goes out and can result in BSOD.

One way to test for it is hook it to a TV while it's BSOD and see if you get anything showing on the TV.

There are videos on YouTube showing how to source and replace a laptop screen power inverter, but it's not something I'd recommend if you're not good at fixing things.

My computer is about a year old. Also I really dont want to load up my computer with viruses. My brother always complains that I have viruses and it's slowing down my computer and that I'm not responsible with computers and that I will never be trusted with them again so I dont really want to give him any fuel to his fires.

If the computer's still under warranty, just take it to maintenance.

If it's over a yr old, it probably is past warranty anyway, unless your bro or whoever bought it had it extended.

And what of any I said had anything to do with viruses? LOL

MSI Afterburner is a trusted GPU software tool that's free.

I think you may have exposed the real problem with all that talk about viruses though. It seems either you (or your bro without admitting it), have been visiting those Personal Organizational Redundancy Network sites.

Needless to say something other than the warranty may have been "extended".

I dont visit pr0n sites though. If I was the title would be "Help! Viruses!". That just makes me feel awful. :*(

Good that you don't, wasn't intended to make you feel awful. And the fact is, not all porn sites are littered with viruses, only the irresponsibly maintained ones. And even if you're sure your bro didn't surf them either, it's probably a good idea to do a sweep of scans with some of the more trusted, well known security tools to make sure that is not the problem, if you haven't already.

I use...

Avast AV
Comodo Firewall
CCleaner
Glary Utilities
HijackThis
Malwarebytes

First off, NEVER install an AV if you already have one on your PC. Uninstall the other first. Otherwise you can get problems, as they can conflict with one another. Avast is very good, the best free AV IMO. I have also used and prefer it to AVG, as Avast is better at catching viruses BEFORE they DL, is pretty good at stopping malicious ads, and does GMER's method of rootkit scanning on bootup. I used to use GMER as well, I don't need to anymore. Rootkits are used for identity theft, so it's good to scan for them.

All the above tools have free versions and all are easy to use. For Comodo to run without confusion though you need to install and activate ONLY the Firewall part of it via selecting Custom on the install screen, then opt out of Geek Buddy, Dragon, etc. After install, set it to Training mode (right click taskbar icon, enable Advanced view, Firewall, select Training mode. Also click HIPS, then select Training mode.

The only other tool that isn't pretty straight forward to use without a log analyzer is HijackThis, but you can simply go to http://www.hijackthis.de, paste in your log, and click analyze.
