Recently I had hiccups with my graphics card not working correctly (went over 80 degrees C) and so I reinstalled my system from Win 7 to Win 8. Everything fine except graphics card cannot go over 720p medium Valley Benchmark or it crashes.... weird. Due to this I thought an issue may be RAM. I have installed 8GB of Ram and have only 3.98GB usable.

I am running 64bit and do not know what is happening.
About the graphics card its an Asus 7770 (will be probably changing this later on)
My mobo is an M5A78L-M LX V2
If you can guide me in the right direction I will be really happy :bounce:
Cheers.

small monitors do not run at higher resolutions. Your highest may be 1600 something. Memory- it sounds like one is not sitting properly. Try to install one at a time and see what it says.

Do you have the integrated graphics disabled on the MB, since you are using a discrete card? If it is not it could be holding some RAM hostage.

It will be in BIOS/UEFI, Advanced>Chipset>Primary Video Controller. Chances are if the GPU is working this is set correctly, looking at the manual it looks like 1Gb is the max it can allocate, so it is less likely the culprit.

If they are seated correctly there may be a memory remap option in BIOS as well that might need to be enabled/disabled. If your RAM is overclocked try taking it down to stock speed/voltage.

Also check that 'Maximum Memory' is NOT checked under MSConfig.

-Edit-
I unselected it.

having 4 GB of your 8 GB ram usable. I would think that one of your ram banks is installed but not working. (happened if they are not installed in the correct bank pairs) (often not next to each other but bank pairs are every other bank on the motherboard)
I would check in BIOS that the RAM is detected and passes a MEMTEST86 test.
I would also run msconfig.exe, select the boot tab entry, select advanced options button and make sure you don't have A maximum memory option set to some value.
