Hello everyone. I've found a good deal on a Xeon 1230 (non v2/v3) and I was wondering if it would be worth the upgrade from an FX 8150.

I've heard that the 1230 is essentially a 3770 without the onboard graphics, but since this would be going in a gaming rig that wouldn't be a problem. Should I really expect 3770 levels of performance in gaming from this chip?

Thanks in advance.

The 1230 is a bit slower (3.2/3.6 GHz on the xeon vs 3.4/3.9 GHz on the i7), really not a big deal, it will be a worthy upgrade from your 8150.

If it's a good deal, go for it!

Xeons are pretty good for gaming machines anyways.

Awesome! Thanks guys!

The 8150 is going to go to a friend to replace his aging Athlon, so it looks like we are both getting upgrades. lol
