I was originally going to buy an i5 4690k (New), but I was seeing that I could get an i7 2600K used for $250, or even a i7-4770K for $250. The seller has a %100 positive feedback for the i7 2600K, and %87 for the 4770k . Is it worth it to buy one or would it be better to buy a new i5?

If your best friend who is honest had a used cpu for two weeks and did not like it and he sold it to you. You would know what your getting. From anyone else, NO! Buy new. Just my 2 cents.

I have made over 1,000 eBay transactions and never had a single problem. 95% were computer related. Many were well over $250. eBay wouldn't be thriving if transactions weren't safe. You just have to find tech sellers with good feedback and who have a 14 day return policy. Also eBay will force the seller to reimburse you if the item is not as described.

I hear you on that. Motherboards and psu's should be well padded and double boxed. Cpu's should be shipped in a clamshell.

What I meant to say is chances are it will work but no one knows how long. If you cannot afford the loss then the course of wisdom is new. Of course if it is a legacy item you will have to buy used.

Cpu's are solid state devices. If it works properly it works.
