I have a newly built PC that keeps randomly freezing on me. Here are the main components to my computer:

Processor: AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition

Memory: ADATA USA XPG V2 Series 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 (4GBx2) Kit AX3U1600W4G9-DGV

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX760 w/EVGA ACX Cooler 2GB GDDR5 256bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card (02G-P4-2763-KR) Graphics Cards 02G-P

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Power Supply: Raidmax ATX 600 Power Supply RX-600AF-B

My settings in my bios are all factory according to ASUS. I have narrowed the problem down to either the power supply is to low or there is an issue with my timing settings. I have not overclocked it. If anyone has any settings that I could use to stop the freezing by all means post them.

I have looked at this system in-person. I can verify that the firmware and drivers are all up-to-date for the board and the graphics card. There are no logs or crash dump files to indicate any problem. In the Asus tools, we ran a few of the diagnostics, like video, and all the ones we ran passed.

From what I could tell, the issue is either an under-powered PSU or something to do with OC Settings/Timings. I looked at the clocking settings in the Asus UEFI and I wasn't sure if they were correct, so we tried a few of the factory "presets" and then finally went to the "optimized default" settings on the board. I have a low level of confidence that the settings are good or that they match what the hardware needs to be stable.

A few years back when I built my last rig, I was trying to overclock it to get a bit of a boost. Along the way, when I had bad timings or settings, it would freeze like this. Thats what makes me thing the settings could be the problem.

Does this PSU sound powerful enough for this system?

Does anyone have any suggested settings to try for the CPU/Bus/RAM/etc settings? For example, I remember having to change things like the FSB speed, NB speed, RAM speed, RAM voltage, RAM timings (eg 9-9-9-24), etc. Unfortunately, its a been a while since I did any of that. There has to be a recommended set of settings to try to make this stable. I am just trying to help CensoredVideo get his stuff stable and running.

on the asus efi bios main page make sure it set to standard mode. if set to performance qill change the ram to cpu speed. in the ai tab make sure xmp profile is on and set to profile one. (use cpu-z) see that the ram speed is set right). try another power supply see if the unit stays on.

It is set to normal. I have tried various profiles/settings, but nothing worked. I can try that one. I know what CPUs is, but what do you mean to check if its right? Do you mean verify what the Mb says the speed is correct?

Update:

The PSU got replaced with a new EVGA, as mentioned above. Same result. I did the following things to troubleshoot.

- Switched grafx card with an older GTX260. Same result.
- Moved both RAM sticks to different (paired) slots. Also tried 1 stick at a time in all different slots. All same result.
- Disconnected both hard drives and tried them 1 at a time. Both same result.
- Removed all devices so that ONLY connected was 1 HD, RAM, CPU, GPU. Same result.

With all that said, I suggested that the MB get repaired/replaced, so it did. The MB came back from Asus so I put the system back together one piece at a time. When it came up, it did not have all the drivers so it was running in large resolution, but it ran for at least 10 mins with no freeze. When the guy took it home and plugged it in, it started freezing again.

So, what can this be? Could it be CPU? I mean I didn't think so because it freezes in no pattern.

on the first asus bios page make sure the system set to standard mode. if set to performace mode it changes the ram to cpu timing. in the ai tab turn on xmp profile under dram speed. run cpu-z make sure the ram set to 800 speed (1600) stock and 9x timing. see if the rig locks up. look at the mb serial number the last 4 number is the bios rev of the mb make sure he running the newest bios code.

I did all of those things. I have the bios set to standard mode and selected the XMP profile. CPUZ shows the correct RAM timings 9-9-9-24 Same result.

I flipped the jumper to clear the bios and then re-set the settings from above. Same result.

I then decided to try reloading the HD with Windows 8.1 and same result. Same result.

I am running memtest right now, but after about an hour or 2, no errors are shown yet.

I am really baffled.
