Hey guys, my little brother recently tried to put in his new graphics card into his PC but while trying to remove his GPU from the PCI 3.0 slot on his MSI Z97 Motherboard, he also ripped off his PCI slot with the graphics card attached. I got a picture of the power pins still on the board. My brother then tried the next slot and got no POST (no display) nor any beeps. He told me he noticed the fans were slow but LEDs on his pc still lit up. He then connected to onboard video and still got no display. Could it be that its just the motherboard that mightve died since no video options worked? Or should we be worried that it could be the entire set up? He could power it on after the incident but got no display the 3 times he tried. The CPU is an Intel i7 4770k btw. Thanks again guys!

Be careful when you tamper with your stuff guys. For reals.

Most likely and hopefully, only the MB is ruined. It's worth a try. Get another board of the same socket type and see.

EDIT:
If you get the same model board, you won't have to install windows from scratch. Just install the components from the ruined board and it should work just fine. I would make sure BIOS is set up correctly before trying to boot.

Don't screw with it anymore until you get a replacement motherboard.

He just bought the ASUS Z97M-Plus Mini Atx board since he lost all faith in MSI for his own fault (facepalm)
But hopefully you're right! Everything was working crystal until he tried installing his GTX 980. :<

Don't let your brother near PC's anymore.... Brute force and electrical components don't mix well

A Replacement MB is hopefully all you need... assuming he didn't damage the video card or anything else in the destructive removal process he employed.

Haha, If I was there I'd probably smack him in the face for his actions. Bad enough in CS:GO, let alone PC stuff. He better call me before he does anything, or atleast post here haha.
