Hi, the max CPU cooler height of our GX500 Illusion is 158 mm.

Do you have a particular budget you need to adhere to for the cooler or can you go with something a bit more expensive than the Hyper 212 EVO? There are several very, very good downdraft cpu coolers that will easily fit and will give you as good or better performance as the 212 but there are no coolers shorter than 158mm that fits that criteria and performs as well for the same price or less. That's why the 212 is so popular.

You're too narrow by 1 millimeter - serious bummer.

A heatsink that is basically a shorter equivalent of the Hyper 212 for the same price is the AR02 by Silverstone:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

That case reminds me a lot of the Antec 300, by the way - one of the best laid out and easiest cases to work with that I've ever had.

Except that it doesn't fit any of the standard sized cpu coolers which are almost all either 159 or 160mm. What a bummer. I bought a Bitfenix Comrade case a while back, which I really liked as well for the price, but it was also 1mm too short to fit the EVO. Pissed me off, but it was my own fault for not checking first. If you haven't bought the case yet, it might make a lot more sense and cost less cash, to get a case wide enough to accommodate the EVO, than to buy a decent cooler short enough to fit the case.

^^^ That's probably the right call. There are some OK coolers with a lower profile, but you're really restricted in what you can choose if the case is that size, because heatsinks with 120mm or bigger fans are almost all going to be a hair too tall. It's a shame, even a centimeter or two would have made all the difference.

Down at 92mm, the choices are pretty much settle for a pretty-good cooler, or spend a ton of money.

If you already have the case, I would say just go with either of the two coolers mentioned in this thread and don't worry too much. As long as you don't push it too far with overclocking, you still shouldn't have heat problems.

Geofelt is wrong. Of course the cooler will "fit" inside the case, but the side panel will not go back on without being bent outward a tad bit. You don't want that. I had that issue with the Bitfenix Comrade and with the tops of the heat pipes touching the side panel at all, not only does the side panel not fit, but the fan on the cpu cooler sends vibrations up the heat pipes into the side panel that makes a racket that will drive you up the wall.

And for a completely weird situation:
The Antec ONE case lists max cooler height at 155mm. http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=704923&fid=4&lan=us

However, the Hyper 212 PLUS at 159mm fits just fine. 3mm to spare, even discounting the side bulge. Including the side bulge, about 10-12mm to spare.

Either Antec changed the actual size of the case since I bought it, or someone is off a bit with the ruler

I am NOT saying that your case and that cooler will work, though.

1mm < Can go either way , it will fit for some , others it won't fit.

so chances are it won't fit for me? but it will fit for another person, off of other variables such as differences in cases, and maybe their motherboard ?

That is a possibility, yes.

i see, well heres my pc http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8KGkbv
and if it won't fit, what are some equivalent alternatives to the hyper 212 evo?

Also i was watching a video, about the hyper212 evo, and this guy fit it in his zalman 1, which is a 199mm (w) case, so i should be able to install it since mine is 8.1 inches and his is around 7.83

You can try , just realize there will still be a possibility it won't fit .

Overall case width means little. How much space is between the mounted CPU face and the opposite interior side is what matters.

2 different 199mm cases...one may work, one won't.

Then USAFret is correct in that Antec doesn't have any employees that know how to measure, probably not including the one who replied first to this post. No offense to Antec employees, they don't all work in that department and are just going off the same provided measurements as the rest of us.

Or, as also mentioned, there has been a revision that included new dimensions that didn't make it onto the specs page. It doesn't seem that likely though as the max supported cooler height was the reported spec, not the case dimensions. And that info comes right from the Antec site where it clearly states max height is 158mm. I think it's probable the side panel has been revised to fit taller coolers but the listing of specs was never changed. Just a guess.
