Hi I have been a long time reader of the forum. I was trying to find someone asking this but I had no luck. I just would like to know if a i3 3220 3.3 ghz dual core bottleneck a GTX 970 if so would it be a huge bottlebeck or just slight preformance loss.

Thank you in advance

Yes it will, the amount of performance you will lose is quite high.

A huge one but then again it depends on the game. Single player games wont be as much of a bottleneck but Mutiplayer will be. Check out this thread by toms hardware. Even tho its the i3 4330 and the R9 295x2 its should give you a general idea;

If money is not on issue than upgrade both. You could just get the GTX 970 and stick with your i3 3220 until you can upgrade that or waiting on the next gen such as Skylake.
