GTX 780 ti, Is there even a point to upgrading for 4K right now?

I recently purchased a Samsung 55" HU8550 UHD 4K TV for my Mancave/Game room. The primary purpose was to future proof for future 4K media and use my PC to do some 4K gaming. Knowing that my current GPU (GTX 780 ti) is only capable of outputting 30hz via HDMI 1.4, I usually end of playing in 1080p @ 60hz. This TV does such a beautiful job of upscaleing the image and the input lag makes the game much more enjoyable, along with the higher fps. I'm mostly playing BF4, Crysis 3, Watch Dogs, and getting ready for GTA 5 early next year.

My question.

Considering upgrading my GTX 780 ti to (2) GTX 980's SLI for the HDMI 2.0. This way, I can play games in 4K @ 60hz. The only thing is, I'm having a hard time telling a real difference between 4K and 1080p on this television. I understand this is Samsung's highest end set (without the curve), but I REALLY cant tell a difference! I'm usually a VERY detail oriented person, and in the past resolution has made a huge difference. I hear so many people say that 4K gaming is going to change everything. Where the current batch of games just created with 1080p in mind, and that why they dont look amazing in 4K?

If you put 2 scenes side by side in Battlefield 4. 1 in 4K, the other in 1080p ; on this TV. I swear I couldnt tell the difference. Both in w/ ULTRA settings.

What am I missing? and is it worth the upgrade now, or should I wait?

This is an issue that is becoming prevalent lately.
There hasnt been some breakthrough graphics developments lately, so going from 1080p to 4k really isnt much of an improvement.

Its simply not logical, nor enjoyable right now for gaming. If you are satisfied at 1080p (Like I am) wait.
