I put my computer to sleep and the next day it stopped working, currently it turns on for about 30 seconds to a minute and then just shuts down. The DVI output of my graphics card isn't sending a signal to my monitor either (sometimes, sometimes it works). I'm trying to problem solve and figure out where the fault is and this is what I've done; I swapped the GFX card into a different desktop to see if it was a dead card (the fans still turn) and it worked so it's not the GFX, then I tried swapping my PSU out for one from a different computer and the same problem of just powering off occurs. I have now tried putting a different PSU in my PC and a different GFX card and the problem continues.

These are my specs please someone help me figure this out.

My Computer:
Motherboard: Asus P6T
PSU: HX620W
Graphics Card: GTX 260
CPU: i7, 2.7GHz x 8 (Think)
SSD: 120gb
Ram: 6gb DDR3
OS: Windows 7

Have you unplugged it and plugged it back in and then turned it on to see if that helps? Try it and see if this helps.

Have you had any issues recently other than this? Sounds like there could be a short somewhere.

So, initially it seemed to be that it didn't power off randomly but the monitor just didn't pick up the DVI signal. I guess after mixing everything around something happened and the powering off issue began. Other than that the computer was working flawlessly, nothing was changed the previous 4 days nothing downloaded or installed the only thing that changed was maybe plugging in a USB mic but the first problem didn't come up until I put it to sleep.

Look in event viewer under windows logs / system. Look for any errors about the time this happens. Whats it say?

Is the BIOS on it up to date. How old is it??

I can't get into windows as it just shut down, I don't even think I can get into the BIOS as only SOMETIMES does it actually show a signal on the monitor, i'll have a go now. The BIOS should be up to date if it was working fine before right?

Also, with the pc unplugged, check and make sure EVERYTHING is properly seated in the motherboard and all cables are secured in place.

May have been overheating, it was shutting down to stop it from frying

Your CPU was overheating and this is why it kept shutting down. It's a safety precaution of your CPU. Hopefully that is the only problem you have with that pc.

We're glad to help and good luck from here on!

Edit: I was typing as Paul was posting. :)
