I have a Toshiba HDWC110XK3J1 1TB external hard drive, it was working fine before I had to unplug it from the usb port. Now when I plug it back in the computer will not load the external hard drive or even recognize it. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, I checked to see if all of my ports were working and they are I even plugged it in and then unplugged it to see if it would load that way but it didn't work. I have a lot of purchased items stored on the hard drive and don't want to try to change anything with the software.

Can you try the hard drive on another computer?

Hey Terily. As ronintexas mentioned, first you should try it on another computer and do the rest of the basic troubleshooting like trying it with another USB cable as well (not longer than 12"). You can try updating the firmware of the drive. See if it shows up in Disk Management. If "yes", then try assigning it a new letter to see if it helps. Here's how to do that: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/137/
Just click on the OS you are using and follow the instructions.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
