It appears you have an issue with the USB ports of your mobo (or possibly another issue with the mobo).

Some motherboards need the usb function turned on in bios for keyboard and mouse...
You basically need to find a serial keyboard (older style purple plug)

Or you may be able to access bios settings through software in windows if your MB supports it

Resetting you bios to defaults may help but unlikely (shorting the pin, refer manual (or removing battery - which is not easy on some MB's)

yes it is
So it not working on a ps2 keyboard connection?
Basically you should be using the orange ports for your keyboard and mice. The ps2 is a combination port that will work with a mouse or keyboard

Just try keyboard only remove mouse - for testing

Ok, this makes no sense to me maybe some of you guys with a little more knowledge can figure it out. I just took one of my 2 sticks of ram out and booted up just cause i couldn't sit there not trying something. Screen comes up that says bla bla bla memory changed please enter settings. i think i fucked up so i turn off, put ram back in and boot up. same message comes up, then goes to msi logo with press del to access bios or press f11 to enter boot menu. i scramble and press a few keys (i dont think i even hit delete) but BAM it takes me to bios. best part, i get full control over keyboard and mouse. have rebooted several times since and everything works as it should.

the computer gods were with me tonight. thanks for all your advice guys.

It sounds like one of your RAM sticks were not seated properly, and the POST screen was disabled (did not show RAM testing). The end result was the computer was locking up - not an issue with the keyboard....

When you removed the RAM, it booted and did not lock up. Replacing the RAM and it boots indicated it wasn't seated properly....
