I have an MSI R7 250 card and have been trying to get 3 displays running independently at the same time. All 3 monitors are recognized by the card, I just cannot use them at the same time. I do not want to set them up in surround. I will not be gaming on computer.

What you do mean by independent monitors? Are you referring to one being the primary desktop and extended on to the other 2?

R7 250 can run 2560 x 1600 max digital or 2048 x 1536 analog.

3 monitors the same would mean each running 720p digital and 640p analog.

You can use one monitor on each of DVI-D (digital only), HDMI (digital) and D-Sub (analog only)

So to be safe, I'd get 3 monitors running at 640p with inputs to match the R7 250 outputs.

Yes. I do not want one image on the Eyefinity 3x1. That set the desktop to 3 monitors. (which I cannot even do, since the 3rd monitor is not able to show any display. As I mentioned, it is recognized by card, it is just not allowing me to run all 3 at the same time.

The maximum display resolution listed for a GPU is per driven output. It is not combined across all outputs. It is perfectly capable of driving two displays at 2560x1600. You don't split it in 3 because you want 3 monitors...

The reason you cannot run 3 monitors is because the reference R7 250 is only capable of running 2 monitors at a time. If you want one that can do 3 you needed to buy a customized R7 250 where the manufacturer used a custom PCB and specifically designed it to run 3.

I was wondering if the 3 options for connecting monitors was just to give the customer 3 options, not to run 3 monitors at the same time. That being said, even if I try to follow these instructions on AMD's site, http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/gpu50-am... I still do not get the option for additional monitors. I have had 3 monitors before using a Plugable adapter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007L6NYAO/ref=oh_aui_... but wanted to use a single graphics card to run all 3.

Most AMD and Nvidia cards can. The R7 250 is a pretty low end card cheap and a rebrand of an OEM only card. To be cost effective it probably made sense to not support all 3. Generally if it doesn't have display port it can't run 3.

The R7 260 can and here's a custom 250 that can.

According to AMD - http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/r7
"MD Eyefinity technology supports multiple monitors on an enabled graphics card. Supported display quantity, type and resolution vary by model and board design; confirm specifications with manufacturer before purchase. To enable more than three displays, or multiple displays from a single output, additional hardware such as DisplayPort™-ready monitors or DisplayPort 1.2 MST-enabled hubs may be required. A maximum of two active adapters is recommended for consumer systems. See www.amd.com/eyefinityfaq for full details."

I won't be gaming on the computer. I use it for drawing and some 3D character modeling. While I watch movies. But no gaming.

As it says above - if you don't have a Display Port output then two monitors is max.

Yeah, no display port. I see the one you pointed me to does. Is XFX brand reliable? 1 GB DDR5 is better than 2GB DDR3?
