Hello,
It started with a file that cannot be open anymore. All the others were fine. So, I perform an 'error-checking'. But, after over night, it seemed to have stopped in the middle. So, I closed all the windows and restarted the computer. From this point, the external HDD was not readable anymore. when I try to open it, a message ask me to format it.
I already try some program like: easeUs, Sky soft data recovery, File scanvenger, recover my files v5.1.0 ... but they did not even succeed to scan it. They all end up by telling me that there is nothing to be find.
I am really worried! Did I actually lost all the data?
Thanks a lot for your concern and your advices.

Hey Noa. Open Disk Management and see what it shows about the drive. The partition may have become RAW or damaged. If the drive is RAW your data should still be there, but it's not readable by your computer. You can try another data recovery program different from the ones you've already tried or the best and most reliable solution - going for a data recovery company.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.

The disk management just call it 'local disk' and don't show any information about the HDD. When I hoppen the properties window, neither information is to be found and the file system show 0 bites.
Does it look like a virus? Or a hardware problem? Or something that I did... I am so lost right now...
Could you advice me about another data recovery program? Meanwhile, I will check some data recovery company.
Thanks again!!

I doubt that this is a virus. Perhaps something went wrong during the error check/fix. As I understand it correctly you've seen this in the Windows Explorer instead of Disk Management. Here's how to access Disk Management: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1284/
Sorry, but I won't be able to suggest a specific data recovery program. Either way your drive might be fine after all, if there's no hardware damage, but before you reformat it - go with a data recovery solution.
