A8 5600K
asrock a88X-ITX+
cooler master elite 120 ITX case.

A8 5600K is rated at 100W, what would be a compact cooler for this ? As small as possible ?

I got a Gemin II unit, but found that the A88X-ITX+ has chips on the back side of the board which prevents the after market backplate being fitted, so if possible I want to use the existing bracket.

Would a 95W Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro do the job ?

I'd just use the stock cooler.

Haven't got one. They're usually noisy too.

Yeah good point.

Maybe a cheap H55 AIO would be a good solution in the limited space then.

Hmm, I had a look at water, but the only way I've seen it fitted into the dinky little elite 120 is by removing the drive cage or getting the dremel out. It would be nice to have water cooling but I'm not taking out the cage.

As it is, I think a spare cooler I had laying round may suffice. I used HWtemp to see how it performed, and it gave horrid a temperature reading, but using AMD Overdrive gives a reasonable thermal margin so what I thought was useless cooler may be OK after all.

I just ran a burn in test and HWmonitor said over 100C, whereas AMD overdrive said I still had 2C thermal margin to spare.
