Dear team,

I want to upgrade my motherboard. My intel 945GCM is not working now.
I have intel dual core processor 2.3 Ghz . 667 mhz 1BGx2 ram (I'll upgrade it to DDR3)
Need a motherboard which supports dual core processor, SATA III ports, DDR3 RAM & intel ICH7 or higher chipset.
Also want to know, whether do I need to reinstall the OS after up-gradation? (Win8)
I am from India. please suggest.
Thanks,
Swapnil.

Dear members,
Thanks for suggestions. I have few more doubts.

I am not able to see Windows 8 support for these motherboards (Not mentioned on their site).
Also None of these having SATA III ports.

I want to choose best from below:
Gigabyte G31 & G41
Asus
As rock
MSI

If I choose MSI, do I need to re-install OS?

Please suggest.

Not sure, but I think that there is no integrated SATA III controllers on that types of MOBO you're needing.
You will need a PCI-e SATA III card in order to get it.
About Windows 8 support; not needed to get Windows 8/8.1 working. This is just for some features like fastboot.

Every time i change MOBO I do re-intall OS, because it boot faster and everything work more stabe. Do it if want or need it.

ASUS is the king of MOBO, but if you can't find an ASUS board go for the MSI.

Old CPU requires old motherboard. Your CPU is LGA 775. There are a few motherboards on NEWEGG.com that support LGA 775.

This is what are you looking for:

This one is from MSI:

GIGABYTE BRAND:

Asrock brand:

Yes, exactly! Actually my motherboard is not working. Hence I need to buy a new one.
So I just want little upgrade too as I am going to buy a new one.

There is not a lot of MOBOs that can fix your problem. If you want a good upgrade move to LGA 1150.

I have seen some H61 motherboards they claim to support from Pentium to i7 processors with 1155.
But don't know whether they will support 45nm Intel dual core processor which I currently use in LGA 775.

If you change your LGA it will not support your current CPU. It will not fit on the MOBO.
