Before we can recommend anything, what's your power supply?

Wattage, maker, and model if you can find it. (Model is really the most important bit.)

Happy to help, though I'm heading off to bed soon enough.

If it's actually generic, you really should have your first upgrade be a good quality 550w / 650w PSU. You can get the SeaSonic G 550w, which is an incredibly good PSU, for about $85.

If you want to upload a picture of the sticker on the PSU, I'll check it in the morning and give you advice on it.

it doesn't even have a sticker. its just like a plain black case with an on/off switch, and a big fan. getting a good quality psu will have a big impact with the spec above? i appreciate your help sir

Having a good quality PSU won't affect the performance of your computer, no.

What it will affect is when you DO upgrade your parts. A good quality power supply is far less likely to fail, and if it does fail, it is FAR less likely to catch on fire, or to fry the brand new parts you just bought. You should never cheap out on the power supply. :)

After the PSU, I would look at upgrading to 8GB of ram, and then to a stronger processor / motherboard if needed.

thank you for the responses DarkSable. Now I know what to upgrade. that ram of mine is 1333 and the board's support is the same after checking the specifications, ill look for a better board and ram as the 1st step.

I would go for a better cpu+ram first in that case, cpu=fx 6300.Could even be better to just get 2x4gb@1600mhz ram,it would probably run first at 1333mhz anyway.

Really no sticker on that psu? not even on the other side?
You don't have the money to upgrade ram/mobo/cpu at once?
