It's three units strong.

Seriously, what exactly are you looking for there?

Do you want a comparison of a stock clocked i5 that's had three cores disabled? What are you comparing it to? A single 8350 module, which is significantly more than a single core? Or a single logical core from a module... missing the other logical core and some other resources.

Long story short, comparing an i5-4690k to a FX 8350, the i5 wins hands down in single-threaded performance, and overclocks easier. *(AMD's chip will overclock higher, but runs into heat issues unless using high-end cooling setups.)

So an i3 is better than a fx 6300

Well... no. Read what I just said - it is nearly impossible to just straight up say something like that.

For example, the fx 6300 can be overclocked; the i3 can't. In games that are really heavily multithreaded, the 6300 will come out ahead - in games that aren't, the i3 will be faster... unless the 6300 was heavily overclocked.

If we're talking about video editing, and things like that, the 6300 is a far better option.

It would be a lot easier for you to find that info you're looking for by stating your specific needs for the chip and giving us a budget for it. :)

I need a cpu that handles the latest games, Photoshop and aftereffects
And a little video editing.

Go with he i5, then. It can handle photoshop and such like a breeze; I don't see spending $100 more on an i7 to be worth it to you, nor going AMD and getting less performance.
