Built a system a few months back:

ASROCK Z87 Extreme3 mobo
i5-4670 3.4 GHz
GTX 760 2GB Windforce
8 GB RAM
650 W PSU
Samsung 21.5? 1920 x 1080 monitor
dual OS: Linux Mint / Windows 7

I am very pleased with its performance in all areas except I want to upgrade to a ~120GB SSD, or a pair of 80GB SSD's, as I have things (mostly games) that could benefit from a SSD's faster speeds that I use in both Windows and Linux. I currently use a 500GB HDD that is split/partitioned between the two OS's.

What would be the easiest way to go about this? Pardon my ignorance, but will it be absolutely necessary to re-install my operating systems to pull this off?

Thanks.

Depends what SSD you get. Some come with migration software. So you can copy from a hdd to the SSD.

Altho I would get something bigger than 80 GB if youre going to install games on it

Most likely one made by Samsung, (I'm in Korea). SSD's cost about $1/GB here, & I usually only play 1 game at a time (downloaded off Steam) and then delete them when I'm done, so smaller size should not be an issue.

Was not aware of "migration software"...I'll look into it. Know any made by Korean companies?

Thanks.

Data Migration is made by Samsung, but it will only clone over 1 OS, not both.

From the limitations: "If there are multiple operating systems installed on the PC (e.g. Windows 7 is installed on the C drive and Windows 8 is installed on the D drive), the cloned disk may not function properly."

Does that mean I could get 1 SSD for each OS and clone them each over separately?
