Screen turns very very dark almost as black

might be a monitor issue, hardware. if you have a laptop or another desktop, try using the monitor there. if it happens again, then it probably is a monitor issue.

its your monitors backlight power supply/pc board that has given up.
I know because it is starting up, but cant sustain it. COuld be minor to repair, could be expensive.
if youd like take it in and get a quote to get repaired.
