Hey

So a few weeks ago there was a thunderstorm that took out my network adapter and so I decided to just buy a new card even though you told me that the motherboard can break down after a while, and in the process I also decided to reinstall windows and remove my raid0 array. Anyways, after using the computer and installing the games that I lost I noticed that the sound is starting to act weird, so I'm thinking that I want to buy a new mb just in case. But will that be enough? Do you think my current motherboard have already damaged other components aswell? I haven't been getting any bsods or graphical errors or anything, I'm just wondering what you think i should do from here.

You're probably fine all round - I would check carefully that your sound issues aren't as a result of a faulty wire, and then do the usual upgrading all your drivers, BIOS etc, to fix it, before you go and buy a new mobo

Yeah, fiddling with the software is what i would do first aswell but since people told me to buy a new mb i just thought that its what i should do.

So you dont think that the motherboard will damage any other components if i continue using it then?

No worries about not quoting... I honestly don't know whether your mobo will damage components, but I would have thought not... Computers are pretty much either they work or they don't, so if after you update the drivers and get that audio problem sorted everything seems ok, then I would carry on with it

Make sure you have a backup strategy in place though.....

Thank you for your answers. :)
