Hey there, I got an old computer off a family friend and was wondering if my Gainward GTX 460 Golden Sample 2gb would be compatible with it? It's a Pci 2.0 motherboard apparently, but I'm not too sure. Thanks.
Also, what PSU would you recommend I get for this GPU if my motherboard is compatible as my current PSU doesn't have anything to power my GPU with. The GPU is only connected to the motherboard as no cables from the PSU fit.

Thanks a lot

*update* It appears I have a Thermal Master PSU. It's only 350Watts and is ATX12V.

Yes the GPU is compatible with the MoBo, you'd need a decent 500W PSU, like EVGA 500B or XFX 550W Pro, to power up the build.

Will those PSUs work with my GPU? Like, will the cables fit into the PSU as it needs to be connected to the PSU as well.

Thanks a bunch :D  One other thing..... I removed the Heat sink from my CPU to clean the heatsink as it was full of dust, what thermal paste should I use to reapply it and how to I clean the old dried out thermal paste off the cpu?

That's a very poor quality PSU, I'd get this instead, better quality:

Is 500Watts enough? Also, does that PSU come with the cables and everything needed?

Yes, 500W is plenty, and it does come with the required cables.

No problem, open up the case, carefully remove the heatsink on CPU, and check for the chip name and number, googling it would reveal the model :)

It has 4 numbers saying 2328 and that's it... I looked it up and it say's it's an i3, but I'm not too sure

Can't be a desktop i3, 2328 is the model number for a laptop CPU (i3), which's not possible.

There's 1 other set of numbers just saying 001 which is on the bottom of the CPU. Apart from 2328 and 001 that's the only numbers?

Have you actually opened up the clip to reveal the chip in full view? Can you put a snap of it here?

I opened the clip up already. here's pictures of the back and front of the CPU.

You'd need to remove the thermal paste to reveal the chip name. Then something like this will be seen:

Haha yup! Although, I am slightly sad it wasn't a Pentium G3258 :'(  The i3 2100 isn't really that great

It couldn't have been a Pentium G3258 in first place, the MoBo is LGA1155 and that pentium is LGA1150, the CPU you currently have is 2nd gen i3, and the MoBo doesn't support 4th gen Pentiums.

No, it'll support only 2nd and 3rd gen CPUs, and good choice on PSU :)
