Processor: Intel Core i5 4670k
Motherboard: Asus z87-A
Graphics card: GTX 770 wind-force 4gb
Memory: G-Skill 2x 4gb 1600mhz
OBS settings for streaming
Encoding x264 1500bit rate
advanced tab has x264 cpu preset veryfast
advanced tab has encoding profile at main
advanced tab has keyframe interval at 2
I was playing wildstar a few months back and without streaming my cpu usage was hitting 80-90% and memory capacity hitting 7.6gb or so out of the 8gb possible from my ram. This caused unbearable lag and with my rig I should be able to run games on ultra. I really like to multitask and when I had 1066mhz ram of 8gb I never seemed to have a problem until building this new rig. When I was streaming SWOTR on ultra settings with chrome among a few other programs I was hitting the max amount of ram possible and almost 100% cpu usage. This caused irritable lag. Many people that I have seen talk about ram say that it does not help gaming much after a certain threshold but I think the bottleneck is my ram. So I am hoping someone can enlighten me on maybe some changes to my hardware via software tweaks through nvidia control panel or some other program might be able to help me. I must really like to multitask so maybe multitasking while gaming is not taken into account for performance when most people ask. If more information is need pls let me know I will be happy to cooperate to get to the bottom of this because I feel like my rig should not be struggling like it is.

Streaming/capturing game footage likes more cores.

FX 83xx or i7 is what you need. Since you are on an Intel platform, look at the possibility to get a new Devil's Canyon i7.

Also note that some capture software will frame lock you at 30 FPS for capture/streaming quality. You can check for this and turn it off. But your video stream/capture may have tearing in it.

For best performance in an Intel capture/stream system, look for software like Myrillis Action that can leverage Intel Quick Sync. Very low CPU usage with this optimization.

Use a dedicated hard drive for captures. Don't use it for anything else. Disable indexing on that drive.

Do I have any options available to me to push my fresh I5 4670k to do better under the pressure? overclocking? core optimization? I knew I should of gotten an I7 but tis too late for that atm. I have insured that obs is not frame locking me. I have mainly the problem of my cpu and memory being practically 100% with chrome open for email social media sites etc. while I am streaming plus playing a game. There are some games that have pushed my computer hard even without streaming. Could you elaborate on the dedicated hard drive that is new to me?
