Hello everyone,

Problem: My laptop is crashing randomly for the last 2 months. Sometimes it crashes after 4 hours sometimes after 1 hour. It happens quicker while playing games. Temps are all fine CPU 70C GPU 50C. What's weird though is once it crashes it sometimes crashes several times. Meaning PC restarts (after crash) i get to windows it crashes again. Then it can go again for several hours without crashing and crashes again.... Also sometimes the PC doesn't turn on or stays black screened and i need to wait 2-3 min then it works again ... weird right?

I ruled out overheating, memory check past, CPU stress test past.

Graphic card stability test failed 3 times.
HD Tuner says my hard drive is having serious issues.

Now my question is can it be the graphic card only that cause the crashes or can it be both the graphic card and the hard drive?
Also why when it crashes my PC sometimes needs a battery reset or 2-3 min wait time before turning it back on again? If i do it right away it just stays black screened is that the Graphic card?

Thanks

Hello,

That really sounds like it's the Graphic card. A failing HDD will not manifest itself in such a manner. At least I have never seen such. On the other hand I used to have the exact same experience with a failing old GPU some years ago.

For the HDD it's best to get the manufacturer’s diagnostics tool to confirm the results. If it doesn't seem healthy enough it's not a bad idea to make sure that a copy of all your data is safely stored on a different location . Better safe than sorry.

Thank you for the awesome answer.
I also had a weird thing happening today where my PC crashed and wouldn't power back on. However, after waiting 2 hours it suddenly powered up again. I would like to know if there is an explanation for this out of curiosity? It happened 3 times already and waiting seems to work. Is that odd or is there a simple explanation for this?

Thanks
