So im building a new PC but i want to know what GPU would be best for this CPU once i overclock it to 3.2Ghz or if i can get more on a ASUS P5Q PRO TURBO? So what would be the best GPU for this, would a HD 6970 bottleneck or would something like GTX 750(ti) be better?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: It already has a HD 5850.

i would say get the 750 ti ..there will be no bottleneck with either though.. that cpu is quiete a even though its old

The Q9400 overclocks well if you have a good cpu cooler.

I would go for either the GTX 760 or 270x. The 750 ti and 6950 isnt much improved over the 5850 to be honest.

New PC? Q9400? LGA775? A dino?
..ehem...sorry...
R7 260 or GTX750Ti will do the trick.
Things like GTx970, etc.....well...Q9400 is the bottleneck

well the 270 will be better but i dont think you should go that for unless you do a system upgrade because it would be worth it to use that cpu with a card up so far ..as i said the 750 ti would be your best option or a 760 like robcrezz said ..if you get the 270x you will have to overclock the cpu to a high frequency for it to keep up and that would mean you have to think aboout a powerful cooling system .. if you have the money to get the 270 and buy a great cooling then i suggest you do a good overclock and and get a 270 or 270x

r7 265 would be the equivalent to the 750 ti

But i tought that the r7 265 is almost equivalent to a r9 270. Almost.

not really the 265 is a weaker gpu to the 270 ..

am refeering to stock performance .. stock 265 is comparable to a gtx 750 ti ..it will be close to 270 if overclocked but still the 270 will be stronger ..
