Okay, I didn't know what other place to put this thread.

I'm concerned, I am not going to buy a shock band, no room in my house with hardware floors.
The floor is carpet, I have a small desk for building my computer. There's no other room in the house with a table that is not out in the open where I can concentrate. Will I be able to build my computer in my room? What safety precautions should I take before starting to build?

Solution
You should have no problem building on your desk.
Just do not shuffle your feet on the carpet which can build up static.
Before you handle parts, touch metal on you case to dissipate any charge that might have built up.

Honestly, i have never used a shock band. I have built on carpet many times and never had a problem. Its not best practice but meh.

Use a shock band and touch sometime to ground out before you start. Thats about it :)

Im not expert to computers but i know it will be safety when you did like this :
1. Get a desk for expample desk from monopoly or book .
2. Put it on floor.
3. Your motherboard is in special anti - electric case or something like that
4. Put this anti elcectric thing on the desk and build your pc :)

Oh and one more thing if your still looking at this thread, I'm getting my MOBO, CPU, and Memory today, is it safe to build that and then wait for the other parts to continue? Where could I store it? Back in the MOBO box?

I've built many computers including the one I'm using now on the carpet. Even with just my socks on. Don't run your feet on purpose on the carpet, and hold things by the edge. Do touch the case when you start and if you think you might have charged yourself. If you can walk around and touch metal without shocking yourself, you are good. If you walk around and shock yourself, there is to much charge in the air and you should wait.
