i'm buying a 970, and I've decided to get the gigabyte card. they have 2 versions, one is $20 cheaper but it's 50 mhz. slower at stock and 100 MHz slower OC'd. the other is $20 more, but it's faster and it has a backplate. it also has hand-selected processors.
here are the cards:

so it it worth the $20 or should I go with the cheaper one?

That is likely a couple of FPS difference in performance. This difference is minimal (the slower one should run cooler too, but only slightly so). Of course, you can OC the slower one yourself.

Go with the backplate. 50 MHz is not worth 20 bucks, but a backplate is.
