Cpu temps really high! (Water cooled)

Hey there,

I've been having really high cpu temps the last few weeks. At idle speed, it is about 60 degrees celsius and running a heavy games can cause it to jump up to 100 degrees for some cores. I know this is really hot...

I use the Intel RTS2011LC CPU Water Cooler.

I completely made my pc dustfree already and I have replaced the old Thermal paste by new one.
So therefore, I suspect the water cooler is doing freaky stuff, but I do not know what.
Are there any steps I can take to check if my water cooler really is the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Feel the cold plate with the cooler turned off and see how long it takes for your hand to warm it up. Then turn the cooler on and see if it takes a longer amount of time. Not the best method but definitely the easiest for now. Make sure you didn't put TOO MUCH thermal paste on. It is only supposed to fill microscopic air pockets between the CPU and cooler. Usually you should only use about a pea sized blob and squeeze the two together and that will spread it out enough.

You could also try listening to the pump with the rest of your components turned off to see if you can hear the water cycling.

The fan and pump are both still running! And I felt the plate like you told me, but with what time scheme can i compare it? In other words: how do I know if it's too slow?
