Hi guys.

Just so you all know, I did IT in college and now I started to study computer science on university, so I got a slight idea about computers, but I am not a professional by any means.

So I got my case that looks like this:

and as you can see there is a side fan:

It has only 2 plugs:

and there is no other wires that would allow me to connect it to the motherboard or something like that. I guess its just one of these fans that are meant to be connected directly to the power supply.

I also got 2 wires that come out of the power supply that match to these that come out of the fan:

but when I connect it the fan doesnt work.

How do I do it? Should I connect all of them, or just two? Do I have to activate it in bios?

My room is quite hot and my pc is overheating every so often, and there is no air circulation in the case (since the side fan is not working) so I figured that it would help a lot...

Thanks for answers :)

Solution
The fan itself cannot be disabled. You can set PWM fans to only run when the board hits a certain temperature but this is not the case. If you run it through the PSU, then it runs at 100% all of the time.

You should be able to use any molex connector from the PSU.

A lot of your cheaper fans normally come with at least a 3-pin connector to go to your motherboard and then a couple of molex to attach directly to your PSU. In this case (no pun intended), it looks like it only has molex connections. I would try attaching one cable at a time to see if it will work. If not, you could always purchase another fan.

I would recommend something such as the AF or SP series from Corsair. They have great performance, look good, and do so quietly. I use all Corsair SP120 PWM Quiet Edition fans for my case fans as they have great static pressure will allows it to push out or pull in air more effectively through the fan grills.

I am also not sure how it is in person but the cable management looks to be a nightmare. The cables look like they are blocking the airflow from the side fan. If your case does not have space behind the motherboard tray for extra cables to reside, you could always try bundling them up neater and use velcro to bind them together and see if you can mount them to something near the top of the case where they will not impede airflow as much.

Thanks for your answer.

I am not sure, but I think that this fan was disabled a while ago (dont know how) because it was annoying my sister with the LED's on it. I tried to find an option to enable it again in bios but I've failed. Or do I need a program to do that?

I've also noticed that the molex connector (on the PSU side) looks kinda damaged (one of the pins is broken) so maybe that could be the case.

I've noticed that there are other molex connectors, but they're black and I think they're meant to be used for a hard drive.

Should I try to connect the fan to one of these? I really doubt that the fan is damaged, it is either the broken molex plug or it was disabled through software.

Thank you very much.

Ive used the black molex connector and the LEDs are glowing and the fan is running as well:

So I guess thats all I needed :D It had to be the broken connector
