A couple of weeks ago I cloned my 64GB SSD (Windows 7 OS drive) to a 256GB SSD and since then I occasionally get a BSOD after coming out of sleep. It's happened maybe 4 times and is completely random. I used Acronis True Image 2014 and the process went perfectly smoothly. I know of no other issues as a result of the cloning. Any ideas?

Go into control panel, device manager and find your SSD listed under drives. In the drives properties, disable the power saving features of the drive.

Go to your SSD manufacturers website and see if there is an updated firmware version for your drive. If there is, install it.

After installing the updated firmware, if any, you can turn the green features of the drive back on if you wish.

Thanks darkbreeze, It looks like I have the latest firmware (MU01 for Crucial MX100) . I don't see in drive properties how to disable power saving features.

Sorry, apparently this feature is not available.

Let's start by making sure you have the latest BIOS file for your motherboard. Do you have a custom or pre-built system? Model numbers? Might need complete system info too:

Yeah, I know for certain that my mobo Bios is not the latest. I've always been very hesitant about updating it. It's an ASUS P8P67

Understandable, however, updating the BIOS file is not as risky as it once was. In fact, it's almost mandatory these days and quite simple if you follow the directions exactly. Watch the video and follow the directions and you will be fine. Of course I must say, as always, that there is always some risk involved, but for the most part, unless you you currently have a serious bosd problem that happens intermittently even during boot up, you should have no problems. Here are links to the BIOS update file and the BIOS update utility. Also a link to instructions on how to update.

Thanks Darkbreeze, updated to the latest BIOS (piece of cake). Now I'll just wait and see if that took care of it. I'll reply in a couple days or sooner if it happens again.
