Question about mice and DPI

If I were to turn the DPI on my mouse to maximum and then lower the mouse sensitivity in windows or video games, would that result in a more accurate tracking experience?

Ex:
1000 DPI and medium-high mouse sensitivity in game
vs
16400 DPI and low mouse sensitivity in game

It would allow for more fine/precise cursor movements. I've seen that tactic used a lot in FPS games that feature sniper/zooms. The zoom button is also the hot-key for the higher dpi mode.

I'd think it would also work well for digital artists and precision selection/manipulation in any type of drafting scenario.
