Hello everyone! I was playing this game when suddenly after almost half an hour of gameplay, PC freezes with some red scratchy screen then restarts followed by a power off after the motherboard logo. I could not turn it on for around 10 minutes as I had to wait and now, its all good but I am afraid of this occuring in the future so i wanna know the cause of this problem! I hope its no hardware issue! Thank you!

My PC Configuration is:
Motherboard: XFX X-G31
Processor: Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz
RAM: 3GB (4GB Max)
Graphics: XFX HD4650 1GB (Approx. Total Memory 2300 MB)
PSU: Corsair VS450
Monitor Resolution: 1366x768

I don't have budget to go for an upgrade as my PC is quite old but I managed to pull off all the latest games like Watch Dogs, Ghosts and Battlefield 4 etc.

More about : freezes restarts shuts motherboard logo

I'm going to suggest cleaning out the PSU real good with compressed air. With the PC unplugged from the wall, use the plastic wand that comes with canned air to get down into the PSU and blow any dust out. Get it as thorough as possible. Heck, clean the whole PC including the CPU heatsink/fan and any other fans
Part two of this is to start budgeting a new, preferably better (the Corsair VS and CX models are seemingly coming up short in the longevity department) PSU. This guide may help you choose a quality PSU http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supp...
I think a good cleaning will help your situation but do look into budgeting a new PSU when you can.

Thanks for your reply! I bought the VS a year ago so I am gonna stick to it. Gonna clean the PC. Is it the cause of overheating then? Thank you

I'm thinking it's very likely a heat issue. Once dust starts clogging things up it becomes more difficult for the PC to keep cool (electrical devices do not work well when too hot). A maintenance schedule can help (clean thoroughly every 6 months or...) keep the PC running happily.
