Hello everyone
I tried upgrading my Windows7 32bit operating system to 64 bit but I cannot because apparently my PC is not compatible but I checked and PC is compatible. I tried booting from CD but when I click on Upgrade It says remove the CD and restart, let the windows start normally and restart the upgrade but when I do that an error window comes up and says The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computers system information and so on. Now i have not tried clean install and im not willing to do that because i don't want to lose the data on my Drive
If any one can help me sort this problem out I be deeply great full.

Here is what im running:
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor 3.0Ghz
1TB Samsung HDD plus one External 1TB HDD
GPU AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB Sapphire edition
4,00 GB RAM

You cant upgrade from 32 to 64 bit

You have to do a clean install. Which means you'll have to format the hdd (you've got no choice ) if you want to install 64 bit

You'll have to copy what you want off it first except programs, you'll have to reinstall them.

Are you sure because my friend was able to upgrade his OS from 32 to 64bit without clean install without any problems and a clean install is the last thing i want to do because i have so much sh*t i dont want to delete
PS can a newer GPU drivers worsen the performance of the older component like my GPU?

They're different architectures so yes I am sure . There is no way you can upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit. Without doing a clean install

That's your call but Tom's Hardware does not condone the use of pirated (non-legit) software. Asking for help with pirated software is a bannable offence. I'm closing this thread.
