In order to display my PS3 on my computer monitor, I bought this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220645284519
without paying much attention. Now it seems I actually need this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/181537095307?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108

Will this work with my monitor? I have heard some things about HDCP compatibility (?) and I don't know if that applies to me - I have a 20GB Japanese PS3, and here's my monitor:
http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/236V3LSB6_00/v-line-23-inch-58.4cm/specifications
I'd also like to know if this is actually the best option in terms of quality, for example you can also get ones like this which is a bit cheaper:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-Male-VGA-Cable-1-8m/dp/B003SPIAM4/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280092891&sr=8-11,
or AV-to-VGA signal converters?

Well on the last link, I can tell you why there is 1.5 stars....its because the product is a gimic for people who dont know any better.
You cant convert a digital signal to a completely different audio signal format in just a cable, you need an active adapter.

As for the second link, that is the kind of device you need. Now I would in no way trust a 6 GBP vga to hdmi adapter. Any decent adapter in the US costs $50-80. Factoring in exhcange rate and market inflation, it should cost 35-50 GBP.

Thanks. Only problem is that it doesn't have any audio, but the next one along does so I'll probably go for that..

I assume there's no reason that wouldn't work with any particular model of monitor?
