So my brother built my parents a PC using a ASUS P5Q-EM LGA 775 Intel G45 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. In my attempts to try and make them understand that the Ethernet cable is the best way to have better internet speed it has fallen on deaf ears. I'm trying to figure out which PCI adapter would work best with this motherboard. I think a USB adapter would work but I know they have a lot of external devices they plug into the USB ports. Any suggestions?

Just tell them that their internet might implode their computer if they have wifi, or something odf the sort. Ethernet is cheap, reliable, and you get better speeds. Make them fear Wifi!!!!!!!!

is there something wrong with the onboard NIC (ethernet jack)? if you're looking for a pci wireless card, this has always been a reliable, cheap solution:

just install the driver, do not use the asus software (let windows manage the wireless)

there are plenty of comparable options out there, just have personal experience with this model.
