Hello,

So I was planning on buying a G.Skill 1600 CL9, but my gf bought me as a surprise a G.Skill 2133 CL11. She thought that the higher the number the better, but I was reading before that 1600 CL9 is better. My question is this which one is better and by how much. I don't want to ask my gf to return the memory if the difference is insignificance, let say 1 fps more or something like that. Its purely for gaming

My pc uses:
Asus Maximus VII Hero
Intel i7 4790K
Asus Strix GTX 970

Thanks for your help!!

Solution
Actually, the 2133 is better in BOTH aspects.
1- It's frequency is far higher.
2- It's CAS latency is actually smaller.

I know it says CL11, but the meaning of that number depends on the frequency.
(CL in nanoseconds = CL*2/Frequency in GHz)

In nanoseconds:
1600 CL9 means 11.25 nanoseconds.

2133 CL11 means 10.3 nanoseconds

As you probably know, the lower the CAS latency the better.
So, the 2133 kit is better.
