Hello,

Somehow I mistakenly bought 4 GB kingston DDR3 Max Bandwidth PC3-12800(800 Mhz) to use with my old RAM 2 GB DDR3 PC3-10700 (667 MHz) and I have Dell N4010 laptop. My main issue is that I am getting blue error (Stating IR_NOT_EQUAL or LESS) while I use single 4 GB RAM. But same RAM when I use with 2 GB old one then my windows loads properly. But when I see RAM usuage in system properties it is only showing 2.99 GB total means 2 GB old and .99 GB from new one :(  now what the hell is that where my other 3-4 GB gone lol... well jokes apart I am also IT professional but not deep pro in hardwares. But When i use linux with single 4 GB system running fine but later it got hanged.. so what i was thinking that RAM is fine but how could i use this with my old 2 GB to get total of 6 GB

More about : ram bandwidth

Do you have a 64 bit OS? If not then you are limited to 4GB (less space for video, etc).

The problem is the 32 bit OS. You MUST upgrade to 64 bit for windows to recognize more than about 3 gigs of ram.

Well my badluck even while installing 64 bit os from pendrive I still got BSOD stating IR_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS (even when I am using with other mem or not). I searched and found that may be my memory stick is faulty but i am amazed that it is working with another 2 GB old one.
