I have a Corsair HX 850 PSU in my PC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

System Specs (minus gpu's)

i7 3770k CPU at 4.0ghz (I can reduce if it pushes it over the limit)
AsRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard
16GB DDR3 RAM (Corsair Vengeance LP @ 1600Mhz)
Intel 330 series 120GB SSD
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM
1 DVD Burner
1 Blu Ray Player
Creative Labs Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional Sound Card
Corsair H100i CPU Cooler

I want to replace my GTX 670's with two R9 290's:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If I have to upgrade my PSU then I was going to get this:

However, if I did, I would probably have to hold off on the second 290. If that's the case, what will the performance impact be at 1080p?

Thanks in advance.

That is a quality PSU and will be able to handle 2 290s.

Honestly for ~$300 i'd go for the GTX 970 instead of the 290. Its faster, runs cooler and uses less power than the 290. A HX850 would be more than enough to run 2 970s in SLI.

I agree, SLI works better than crossfire anyway.

Can anyone recommend a specific model? I would prefer a 4GB model for some more memory headway in the future. That's the main reason why I was going with the 290, that and the slightly lower price.

All the GTX 970s have 4Gb of vram. I'd go with the Gigabyte G1, the MSI gamer, or the Asus strix.
