I replaced my MSi z97 G55 SLI board with a Asus z97-A Board. I bought some Artic Silver 5 and I used a small p size amount. With my MSi board my idle temps on HWMonitor would be between 29c-35c. With my new Asus board idle temps are from 41c-55c. Did I apply the thermal past incorrectly?

You did remove the old paste completely correct?

the paste also takes a little time to 'cure', which you could see some drop... but yeah... did you make sure to get all of it off before the reapplication? and it may be a little thick... a pea is a lot moer than the uncooked grain of rice i usually see mentioned

Thanks guys for the reply! I completely cleaned it off with Artic Clean before I applied the Artic Silver. I can try reapplying with the grain size method. When I apply it with that method, do I make it exactly the same size of a grain of rice? Do you guys have any pictures that I can see? I been following the instructions videos on youtube.

Here what the processor and heat sink looks like after using the pea shape method.

This is how much I used for the grain size. Tell me if this looks good.

I figured it out. My memory was overclocked so that is why I was getting the high idle temps!

These weren't the temps of the cpu but of the motherboard? If so that makes a lot of sense.
