I RMA'd one of my 570s for the third time. This time, I was sent a new 760. I still have my other 570.

I've always been under the impression that you need identical video cards to SLI but I've also been hearing that given the correct cirumstances, it may be possible with different cards.

Can anyone clear this up for me? If it's possible, which pieces of information do I need to compare to get my answer?

Cards are:

I'm pretty annoyed if I can't. Sending me a card that doesn't work with my current one doesn't really help me out all that much.

They don't have to be identical, but they have to use the same gpu and have the same amount of vram. In short you can't SLI a 760 and 570. However a single 760 is almost as fast as 2 gtx 570's.

No, you cannot use sli on a 760 and a 570. With Nvidia cards, they need to be the same model (but not the same brand).

SLI/Crossfire is tricky business at times, and not always very rewarding. I'd suggest you definitely look into one solid performance card, as opposed to stacked lesser cards. Less headache

But for point of reference, in SLI you need the same model card. It can be different in aftermarket seller, as they change little from the reference cards they're handed. Just core clocks, design and heating solution.

AMD it gets a little more customized. An R9-280 for instance can crossfirex with another R9-280, obviously. But it can also be crossed with an R9-280X, 7950 or 7970.

I'd contact EVGA and explain the situation. If you registered both cards, see if they're willing to upgrade both cards.

+ 1. I've seen them do that with SLI setups.
