Would it be more worth to go from a AMD FX 8320 to a I-5 4690k or go from a Radeon 7790 to a ASUS STRIX GTX 970? Which is more worth for more performance in Arma 3?

More about : cpu gpu arma

Just put a good OC on that FX8320 and then upgrade the 7790 to a GTX 970.

Rule of the thumb for upgrading a GPU is that the new GPU you upgrading into must be 3-4 tier higher in rankings than your old GPU.

now if you check http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-car...

^this hierarchy the 7790 is right in the middle.

The GTX 970 performs and outperforms a GTX 780, if you look at the chart and find the GTX 780, its at 6 tiers higher wherever the GTX 780 is at is where the GTX 970 is also at or maybe just above the GTX 780..
It should get you a boost performance while playing games. It also has 4GDDR5 + has a lower Power consumption.

Forgot to mention he has to install all the amd drivers on his rig to use a Nividia card.

Huh? What do you mean? Are AMD Drivers required for Nvidia cards or something? o.o

Arma 3 is quite a cpu intensive, if you play any other games I would upgrade the gpu but if you really like arma 3, the best performance upgrades you can do are to get a ssd and a cpu upgrade.
