Can't connect to wireless network

I have a 3COM router its abit old but working, the thing is when is set a wifi password it works just fine for all my device (mobile, Ipad, pc wired) but not for my laptop as it keeps saying unable to connect as if I'm using the wrong password and when I remove the password and leave it an open network my laptop connects just fine so please help me its frustrating my laptop is Dell inspiron 15R5537

are you trying to connect with the right security type? wpa/wpa2/WEP?

@vagrantsoul Im using WPA-PSK and pretty sure the password is correct cause I used it on my other devices

do you have the option to set up the usb key on the wired pc to bypass typing the password?
