So I've had an issue with a computer I've recently built. Every now and again things like Google Chrome, iTunes, and even opening folders just slows to shit. When I check my processes tab it tells me my memory is running at around 90% and my disk is almost always at 99-100%. I have no idea why, because it only says that the programs running are using at MOST ~100mb of memory with 0.1mb/s on the disk.

I run windows 8.1 and it says that my 8GB of RAM is registered on the computer.. Anyone know what the cause or a solution for this could be? I have G.Skill Ripjaws, Windows 8.1 64bit, and my HD is a basic Seagate Barricuda.

More about : 8gb memory running usage running

You might have a virus using up all that memory and CPU usage. Check your process list with the task manager for anything suspicious. Run your anti-virus scan and uninstall anything that you would suspect malicious/useless.

I may have misunderstood but If it's at 99-100% capacity, freeing up at least 64 mb of space on the hard drive should eliminate most of your problems.
