why is amd so much cheaper?

I am currently using a 4770k in my pc (cost me 330) and was looking at amd processors and found the AMD FX 9590 which is currently priced at 230, it has a 5ghz boost speed and is an 8 core processor, how does this make since, it offers almost double the performance for a third of the price.

typically the per core performance of intel vs amd is heavily leaning in favor of the intel chips... then there is hyperthreading and such... above my head to impart well enough to you... as games and such get more and more muti-threaded, in theory the lines should blur a little more.. but most are typically still single or dual threaded, and this makes the intel chips perform better.>

i mean a honda and an audi can both get you there, have the same size gas tanks, but there are tradeoffs between with each.

As I understand it, an AMD CPU that costs the similarly as an Intel CPU will be on par with it but if the AMD one is cheaper, it most likely wont be as good. I won't get into architecture stuff but theres a reason for the price difference.

i agree, intel does make a better product. this does not mean amd is bad, they have an alright product. im an intel guy all the way, but if im on a budget an amd 6 or 8 core will do.
