I very recently (15 min ago) spilt about half a cup of water down the top of my desktop, I instantly turned it off, opened it up, and proceeded to wipe all the parts that seemed to have water on them. I then plugged it back in and turned it on and it almost got to the login screen when it shut off, now it only turns on for half a second then shuts off. Pleeeease Help.

Cheers

should have waited over night to let it dry out. sounds like there was still water on a card or the mb. try pulling the gpu and just use on board ram see if it post. also try clear the cmos see if the mb was turning off due to dead short protection.

I would caution you against applying any power to your PC until you've let it completely dry out. Depending on how humid it is where you live, this could take 24 hours or more - removing components from your build and placing them on a static-free workspace (ie. wooden table, no carpet) to dry might speed up this process. Take care not to drag your feet around while handling your components - the less static you create the better.

After you've let everything dry I'd plug it all back in and try to boot. If no joy, the painful process of tracking down the fried component begins..

I took the GPU out (which is a radeon 7950 hd) and it started up and seemed to work fine, any tips on how to fix the GPU?
