System
---------------------
Intel i5-4690k
MSI GFX970
MSI Z97 Mobo (Gaming 5)
8GB RAM
Windows 8.1 64bit
Ok so I built my new rig, installed drivers an anti virus suite etc and started to load on some games. I started with BF4 and Crysis 3 as I was excited to see what the machine could do and was not disappointed.
Yesterday I was playing both games offline and online with decent framerates all on Ultra settings.
Today I started playing multiplayer BF4. First try and the map wouldn't load and the game crashed (looped music and could only close via the task manager). Next try I get online and experience a few moments of looped sound and a freeze in action for no more than 5 seconds. These freezes come and go, there is no pattern and can sometimes last for less than a second. I assume they are lag spikes so try some singleplayer.
Here's where things get worrying. Firstly the intro video has moments of very low framerates, I mean it looks like the system is struggling (which it shouldn't be). In game the problem is similar to multiplayer, there are moments (though less of them) where the game hangs. It also crashed on me twice. Crysis 3 didn't crash but it also showed the same problems.
My question is is this a problem with my GPU and if so how can I test it?? I can't believe it was all working fine yesterday and now not today.
