I cannot OC my cpu past 3.8 GHz unless I am able to change the voltages a bit. The second I change them at all (undervolt and overvolt), the computer won't POST. I am being forced to use OC Genie II which I do not like at all, as I have no control over the clock and it makes it impossible to read the CPU temps from the OS. Is there a BIOS update, or anything I can do differently in order to change my voltages?

MSI 970A-G46 < I wouldn't overclock on that board at all , has a very poor power and thermal design.

^ If you must overclock on tha board you need reset you bios to optimized defaults, then go ahead and turn off CnQ, C1, and LLC.

Next, manually set your CPU voltage to its stock voltage.

Next, up the miltiplier by .5, reboot, and see if it posts to windows. If it does, repeat untill you can no longer post to windows. Once you can no longer boot into windows, revert back to last successful post and run stress tests.

If you pass the stress tests you have found your max overclock. If not, drop the multiplier by another .5 and rerun stress tests. Repeat untill you have found a stable overclock.

The key here is to not adjust voltages at all. From what I have read that motherboard has poorly built VRM, making voltage changes a bad idea. You may want to avoid overclocking on that board altogether though.
